Frequently Asked Questions

You can book many of our services (including the Pawra Wellness Discovery session) without a referral, so you can get started right away. For certain treatments, like dog physiotherapy and dog hydrotherapy, your vet’s approval is required. This is a regulatory requirement from the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. Where needed, we’ll reach out to your vet and handle everything for you.

Pawra was designed from the ground up to complement vets’ medical care by offering a wide range of science-backed holistic dog wellness services. Together with your vet, we support your dog’s long-term wellbeing, helping them stay well and full of vitality.

From nutrition and fitness programmes to targeted rehabilitation treatment and behaviour sessions, our goal is to help your dog truly thrive and live their best life by nurturing their body and mind. Happy dog, happy you.

Pawra has been designed to elevate both dogs’ and caregivers’ overall experiences when at our centre with a blend of immersive and sensory features powered by the latest technology in dog wellness and recovery. Pawra’s highly trained associates are focused on delivering an exceptional service and ensuring every visit is memorable, for everyone.

Pawra is not a vet practice and as such, does not have a full time vet on site. We do have vets delivering some of our services. Our behaviour and pain services are vet services and are delivered by vets who are RCVS Specialists in their field.

We maintain clear and close communication with your vet to ensure a seamless, stress-free care experience. This includes sharing reports with them, such as from the Pawra Wellness Discovery session, to support your dog’s health journey. Our Wellness Advisors are trained veterinary nurses with years of experience in practice. They work independently of a vet at Pawra and are able to document findings and report these back to your vet for action.

Our Wellness Advisors are trained veterinary nurses. Vet nurses are able to examine, document findings and report those findings to your vet. Wellness Advisors are not able to, and will never make a diagnosis as this is an act of Veterinary Surgery according to the the Veterinary Surgeons Act (VSA) 1966 (note how old this law is!). It is widely accepted that the VSA is outdated, however, we must abide by this. Vet nurses working independently of a vet are considered lay people according to the VSA, which is why we always report findings back to your vet for them to make a diagnosis.

Absolutely not. Pawra is intentionally designed for every dog at every stage of their life. Whether your vet has referred your dog to us for support following an injury or operation, or you simply want to ensure your dog is in optimal health, we’re here for you every step of the way.

Let’s sniff it out together. Our Pawra Wellness Discovery session is the perfect starting point. It’s our way of understanding you and your dog’s unique needs. We then create a tailored wellness plan to help them thrive across body and mind. Alternatively, you may be referred in by your vet for a specific service. You can also reach out to us to discuss which individual services you’re looking for.

It’s as easy as a game of fetch. Book online via our website, call us, or send us an email. We look forward to welcoming you and your pup!

You’re part of your dog’s wellness journey as much as they are. We encourage your involvement wherever possible as it helps your dog feel secure and strengthens your involvement in their wellness. We place a strong focus on education to empower you with the right tools to support their wellbeing. We also have a cosy community space in case you need to clear a few emails while we’re taking the best care of your pup.
